Governance Committee Work Session

Committee work session

  • Chairman remarks - Dr. Epps and Mr. Kemp welcomed our visiting prospective board members: Anastacia Johnson & Jina Meadows
  • 2023-2024 Board leadership, membership
  • Dr. Epps rolling off committee in June
  • Recommended Nadine Duncan as incoming Governance board chairperson
  • Recommended Stephanie Twitty-Carmon as Vice Chairperson and Academic committee chairperson (Banyard and Nichols members)
  • Recommended Sarah Lampkin as incoming Governance committee chairperson (Kemp and Duncan members)
  • School enrollment
  • Dr. Nichols shared with the committee the data for scholar withdrawals and reasons for withdrawals which included families relocating, students going back into their zoned schools and some continued transportation challenges.
  • Committee suggested a deeper dive on exit survey to get more precise reasoning for students returning to zoned schools (i.e. sports, buses, educational rigor)
  • School reviews
  • Dr. Duncan led a discussion around Ivy's reviews on major school review sites which are overall poor. This is often the first place potential stakeholders and donors go to get a sense of the school. Some committee suggestions included:
  • Utilizing Mrs. Richardson who manages social media to help with improvement of our review scores online
  • Solicit POSITIVE reviews from current staff, scholars and shareholders via QR codes around school and in newsletter
  • Tie in around teacher appreciation or spirit week
