  1. Governance Committee Work Session

    Call to Order: The meeting was called to order at 6:18 pm by Chair, RaShaun Kemp. The chair recognized our Governance Specialist, Christa Thomas being present and Head of School, Dr. Nichols.

    Governance Committee Chair Remarks 


    Governance Committee Member Work:

    • Discussion and review of board member roles and responsibilities
    • Committee members discussed the potential new officers for the FY 2024 school year
    • Priorities discussed for FY 2024
    • Finances
    • Academics (Certified teachers)
    • Process of canceling a meeting for committee chairs should be emailed to Chairman Kemp, Secretary Purifoy, and Dr. Nichols
    • Dr. Duncan offered suggestions for fundraising opportunities
    • Entrepreneur Day
    • Holiday Bizarre
    • Joining Next Door App
    • The committee would like to recommend to the board moving the Annual Meeting from April to May
    • Ms. Thomas will provide a potential board training calendar based on the needs of the board, observations and board input
    • Chairman Kemp will follow up with the CFO regarding budget allocations for the strategic plan

    Dr. Duncan motioned to adjourn the meeting at 6:58 pm and Mr. Kemp seconded the motion.
