Welcome and opening remarks by the chair

Chair Cassidy began the meeting with introductory remarks setting the agenda.

School update

Executive Director Kelbaugh provided the following updates: TMS is actively working to form a partnership with Morehouse and other HBCUs in our community. Looking for opportunities to expand student teacher partnerships, which currently include UGA and GSU. TMS has welcomed a group of practicum students from UGA and GSU for the fall, all of whom are teachers of color. Kelbaugh emphasized the opportunity of developing relationships with student teachers of color to support them in their educational journeys and also create a pipeline for future teachers interested in joining the TMS community. Highlighted the school's core pack program, which supports families with weekend food items. Highlighted the budget line item for supporting families in need along with funds dedicated for Erin's Closet. _ TMS has renewed its membership with the Diverse Charter Schools Coalition.

Project Updates

Chair Cassidy led a discussion about a planned communication to update the TMS community on various DEI initiatives, including the equity analysis, the DEI tracker and discussions surrounding the mission statement. A communication plan was drafted and will be executed in the next month.
