Welcome and Call to Order

Report by Executive Director Kelbaugh

Dr. Kelbaugh provided an update on various EDI initiatives. She began by noting the tremendous work that was created as part of the school's Black History Month program and encouraged committee members to review the materials if they hadn't already done so. She also spoke of the various work to ensure equitable access to items students will need as the school prepares to reopen, including masks, thermometers, etc. Dr. Kelbaugh also noted that a community member had provided funds to assist with this specifically. Dr. Kelbaugh also spoke about work that will be beginning to update the school's EDI page, in consultation with our EDI consultant, Ms. Stewart. Finally, she noted the receipt of a sizable federal grant that will allow for each student to be provided with a ChromeBook, charger and case for the remainder of the school year.

Strategic discussion

Chair Cassidy and EDI consultant Ms. Stewart led a discussion about the plan for listening circles to be held in coming weeks. The aim of the listening circles will be to discuss the current mission statement and collect community feedback on whether adjustments might be warranted. Ms. Stewart is developing a plan for the listening circles with invitations planned for staff, caregivers, Board members and community members.
