Approval of Agenda 5 minutes

So that there is agreement between board members on the agenda, and the amount of time spent on the meeting, the board shall vote to approve an agenda for the meeting. To the best of its ability, it will follow that agenda, and allow for the chair to move the board through the agenda as specified.

Approval of Minutes 5 minutes

The Governing Board met on Tuesday February 28th, 2023 @7:00 PM for what was scheduled to be a 1 hours and 55 minutes long meeting. Present: Chanel Recasner, Mitch Foster II, Carla Wagner, Satonja Gilbert Scott, Dr. Kimberly Walker-Browner, Kenya Morris, Kanetha Stephens, Shameka Smith, Nkiruka Onyia, Dr. Chad Owes
Not Present: Kristal Ramirez, Heather Wells

The members considered the following items:

The committee considered 7 motions, of which 6 passed, and 0 failed:
1. Approve the agenda as submitted (passed)
2. Approve the minutes as submitted (passed)
3. Approve January 2023 Financial Report as presented by our external CFO (passed)
4. Approve the 2023-24 School Calendar (proposed)
5. move to approve option B for 2023 - 2024 school calendar (passed)
6. approve the proposed changes to the TMSA Bylaws, last revised version as of January 31, 2023, as presented. (passed)
7. Approve Ms. Charity Buckley as the elected Faculty Representative pursuant to Section 2.7 of the TMSA Bylaws. (passed)

Public Comment 10 minutes

Our Public Comment period is for members of the public to address the board. Each member of the public may sign up to comment at the meeting, and will be allotted two minutes. The board will listen, but may not directly respond to any comments. Our meetings are open to the public and public record. As such, if your comment is about a private matter, please contact the board via email, or speak to the board chair privately.

The governing board of TMSA welcomes the comments and suggestions from our parents, teachers, staff, and the community. The first item on our agenda is always reserved for Public Comments. Those who wish to speak need to arrive between 6:45 and 7:00 and place their name on the speakers list. Speakers will be allowed up to four minutes to address the board. Up to five speakers may address every meeting. The list is first-come-first-serve. At 7:00, the speaker’s list will be taken by the secretary to the chair, and no more speakers may be added for that meeting.


Virtual Comments were previously allowed to adjust to COVID-19 restrictions. As in person meetings have resumed as of August 2022, all public comments must be made in person.

Principal Report 15 minutes

The school leader reports on the status of the school.

Finance Committee Report 10 minutes


Executive Director's Report 15 minutes

The Executive Director reports on the status of the organization. 

Governance Committee Report 20 minutes

Approval of the Updated Strategic Plan.


Actions:

  1. approve the updates to the 2012-2025 TMSA Strategic Plan, as presented.
