Welcome and Call to Order

The meeting will be called to the order by the committee chair at 4:35 pm.

Approval of Minutes

The committee will review the minutes from the previous meeting and make corrections if applicable.

Approve the August minutes

Approval of Agenda

So that there is agreement between board members on the agenda, and the amount of time spent on the meeting, the board shall vote to approve an agenda for the meeting. To the best of its ability, it will follow that agenda, and allow for the chair to move the board through the agenda as specified.

Academic & School Needs

The committee will access the academic and operational needs of the school.


  • Review current uniform policy and make recommendations as applicable


Current Policy - Shoes may be purchased from any vendor. Shoes MUST be solid and MAY NOT have any embellishment, including, but not limited to accent colors, logos, swooshes, appliqués, stripes, polka dots, embroidered designs. Suggested styles include the following: Oxfords, Mary Janes, Penny Loafers, Top Siders or Bucs.


  • Review grant opportunities and begin work on applications


The Georgia Department of Education is accepting applications for the CS4GA Computer Science Capacity Grants. These grants are designed to assist students and teachers in broadening computer science education. For more information, eligibility and to apply, please visit: CS4GA Capacity Grant

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE BY SEPT. 15.

Ms. Avery will work with the technology teachers (Mr. Graham & Ms. Sparks) to submit the grant by September 15.


*Fender Music Foundation is offering donations of instruments and equipment to schools for use in a music instruction program. Currently, they are awarding guitars and equipment necessary to play them. However, other traditional instruments are sometimes available. Principal Parker will work with Mr. Lackey to complete/submit this grant by October 15.


*The Whole Kids Foundation, in partnership with Salad Bars to Schools, is accepting applications to implement a salad bar in your cafeteria! Give children the option of healthy food choices with fresh fruits and vegetables. To be eligible your school must participate in the National School Lunch Program. Helene Brown will work with Ms. McCoy, food service coordinator to complete/submit this grant by October 15.


The NFL Foundation Grassroots program is offering grants of up to $250,000 for capital improvement projects to local football fields. Those submitting proposals should seek to upgrade facilities that are in active use by middle and high school programs. For more information, eligibility and to apply, please visit: NFL Foundation

Mr. Mitchell and Coach Monti will research the requirements and will provide findings at October meeting.




Approve changes to the school shoe policy -

Shoes may be purchased from any vendor. Shoes MUST closed toe and only one of the following colors: red, white, navy blue, black or brown. Suggested styles include the following: Oxfords, Mary Janes, Penny Loafers, Top Siders or Bucs.

The committee reviewed the current uniform (shoes) policy and the request to amend the policy to reflect flexibility and current apparel.

The committee thoroughly reviewed the 2019 Georgia Milestones data, discussed academic needs, and selected goals for FY20.
