@Pardes Sulaiman Great job. If you need any help with the Marketing please let us know. We are looking forward to the Art Show. Have their been any donations yet from artists for the show
Angelia we have pieces that have been dropped off at the school and at Mr. Fulton's office. He comes by everyday to pick up his son and organizes and stores the art in the secure closet. He is working on cataloging the art. He wants to have pictures of each item so that participants will have the full catalog on that night of the show. So far everyone that has committed to donating has either or will. Today I had a chance to go over to Incredible Artist at the Mall which is the premiere sponsor of the show. I was able to explain that the "A" in SLAM stood for Art. They are very excited to participate and partner with SLAM Atlanta and are looking forward to the show. I did tell them that we are looking to work with us beyond the show. So far they are the largest contributor in the show. Taylor has come through as well so thank you Pardes for recommending her to work with us. @Pardes Sulaiman Pardes Also, we should invite the families that are in Lotterease to the Art show.
Highlights
$38,102.47 - From Building Hope
$324,929.36 - From SLAM Foundation (Reclassified from RC Grant to Loan at year end, addition of $150,000 loan)
$(2,037.85) – Teacher Retirement Payable
Pardes has been having conversations with Ana and Brittany about the current cash status. April is the first month that we will receive a reduced QBE we will be reduced to $63,000 per month and that's a big loss. This is due to the enrollment situation. We have a $121,000 from the PPP loan that was forgiven. Event hough we have a large amount on grants that we can draw down on we have to spend them money upfront first before we can receive the money. We are going to have to ask for about a loan of $50,000 to get us through the end of June. We have calculated a negative ending cash balance of about $48,000. This includes taking down the $120,000 of PPE funding. I am confident that we are going to make our enrollment numbers. With full press Marketing and a brand new facility to show off. I would like to ask the Board to empower me to have conversations with the Foundation and other potential loan companies to discuss borrowing the money to help get us through to the end of the year. The cash flow has been updated from April - June with
@Mamie Grimes For clarification is the $50,00 for operations. @Pardes Sulaiman yes this is for operations. We have about $183,000 in monthly expenses In April we will deposit $168,000, May will deposit 87,000 and June we will deposit $63,000. I will forward this report to all of you so that you can review it and we can discuss.
Shaurie I have a question as it pertains to enrollment? What is the ideal or realistic number that we need to target for enrollment? Angelia, I believe it is about 200 or 250 students. Alina Chester, we haven't had our 2022 budget meeting yet. I do have some projections that we did when we were calculating the lease and the goal was 178 students. @Pardes Sulaiman our next FTE count is October so we need to make sure that we make this number.
We have been working very closely with Radiant Educational Services, our Curriculum Coach as they implement the plan
I am certified already in LKES, I took the course on TYKES and now all I have to do is take the test so that I can do the TYKES evaluation on our teachers so that we will be compliant with evaluations.
Comprehensive Performance Framework for last school year, Academic Performance, we met the standard because we outsourced our neighboring schools but we had too few students testing in order for us to get an actual grade. Financial Performance we scored 95 points and Operational Performance, we received an 87 score. What are doing for this year? Our onsite monitoring for this school year was done back in the fall of last year and we received the reports with the results from that visit. We received 13 findings and we have been meeting with the team to address the findings from that visit. The Corrective Action Plan is due by April 25th. We have updated the respective handbooks to revise the policies and procedures to address those findings.(Financial, Employee, Students and Family, Bullying) and you have them for approval at tonights meeting.
We now have a Title IX certified Coordinator; Ms.Walker took the class and is now certified as our Title IX person. This information has been put in the handbook and on the websites as directed.
We updated the Bullying policy to include that SLAM Atlanta provide alternate educational options for any student who violates the bulling policy and removed the wording that says a student will be expelled, We have updated the Family and Student Handbooks as well as the Employee Handbook to include the entire GaPSC mandated process, Title IX coordinator as well as the exception for religious attire as it applies to the Required Dress Code, we sent documentation of proof of partnership with MARA and Hopebound services for our McKinney Vento Children, sent our Meeting Documentation to include the required Professional Qualifications for Special Education Teachers and Paraprofessionals, We also clarified that we do not have any paraprofessionals at this time and if we did they would he required to have the required certifications in place, The already had two staff members trained to support students with Diabetes, however we do not and have never had any students with diabetes attend our school. SLAM Atlanta does have the proper School and D&O insurance in place. The two area's that we cannot correct is the lunch program that we were not able to correct because we did not have our Food permit in place when we started up in January in the new building and one regarding the new facilities; we did not request permission from the Commission prior to moving into this new facility. We cleared everything through the State Facilities department but we did not request permission from the Commission.
@Charles Jones will you be doing TYKEs evaluations for this year or will you start next next year. Alex, no we are starting the evaluations on this year. Ms. Addison and the staff had already started. A former coach of mine who is a retired educator in Cob County will be helping me to do the evaluations. We have already started the process, we have done the 15 minute walkthroughs, now we have to do the 30m minute walkthrough. There was one thing that we did not get to because time had already gone by and we can't go back. When I was doing the training the lady told me not to worry that due to COVID the state is not really looking for areas where you fail. So we will be in compliance with TYKES for this school year.

I put together a timeline and the job description that was sent to you all. We posted for 2-weeks to see what comes in. Have 1-week to screen the applicants. I assume we would do what we did the last round. At the Boards discretion. We would then do a first and 2nd round of interviews so that we can have a candidate selected the 2nd week in May.
@Karen Womack can we run the job description by Radiant Educational Services just to have them take a look at it. We would like to post next week so that we can get the ball rolling. We will keep the Board in the loop every step of the way so any tweaking that is needed we will follow the Board's wishes. Alex Tamargo, we can create the same panel. We can have a screening team that look for the qualifications. We opened it up for 4-weeks last time maybe we open it up for 6-weeks this time. We just have to get it right this time.
@Mamie Grimes what does it mean to be eligible for a leadership certificate? Angelia if the person is not local they will not have a GA Leadership Certificate so they will have to apply to Georgia to receive that. We are asking for a Master's Degree, 5-years leadership experience as a minimum. @Pardes Sulaiman I would like to have a Board Member involved in the screening of applicants. Right now it's just Alex and Millie. @Alex Tamargo, that's fine, we can have one person receive the resumes and then forward to us and then we will take it from there. One person should receive the emails and then forward them to the team on a daily basis.
Unfortunately the answer is not what we hope. I spoke to Paul Mussman about how to make this happen. The way the law reads it says if the school is operating all the hallways have to be smoke rated. The way we got around it initially, we told the inspector that we would only be using the part of the building that we house the school. We would have to do the main hallway behind the offices and the one at the end of the hallway. Issue number two is we don't have enough bathrooms so we would have to include the other bathrooms on the otherside. With what we are occupying right now we are right at the cusp of the bathrooms that we have now. I am working on how we can do this. @Charles Jones how will it work if we add an additional 100 children. Danny, right now we are able to fit 200 students in the space that we have now. It's just not comfortable with the number of staff that we have. The original staffing was done for 225. Danny How many classrooms do we have right now 8. This process is not as simple as we originally thought it would be. The original permitting process was a nightmare so we need time to get it done.
We have added a lot of new members. I feel like we need to start earlier than we normally do. The sooner the better so that we an
Angelia will send out a Doodle to see when everyone is available. We need to decide if we will have one day or 2-day meeting. Worst case would be a full day and a half.
Nothing from the SLAM Foundation
SLAM Atlanta was awarded the USDA Supply Chain Assistance grant for a little over $6,000. Because we do not prepare our own food I contacted the State Department to see how we can use the funds and I was advised that I should contact our vendor and tell them that we would like to purchase our own milk. So that we can use the funds towards that. I was also notified that the State is Supplementing teachers and Staff that qualify through CPI II reporting with Bonuses in the amount of $2,000. Once the state makes the money available to us at the end of April I can then submit the budget and request the refunds for the SLAM team.
Federal Grants remaining balances to be drawn down
IDEA $26,321
Facilities Grant $25,769.94
CARES Nurse - $11,049.33
Title I - $81,677
ESSER III $445,268.45
Title II $9,415
Title IV $10,000
As you can see there is a lot of money to be drawned down but we have to have the funds upfront to spend it first.
