The school leader reports on the status of the school.
Tatiana Scott, Special Education Teacher. I have two concerns that I would like to address to the Board.
(1) When we first re-opened I understood that the Board set an expectation that we would do so with 50% student threshold. I am concerned that we have exceeded that threshold and could compromise safety. What is the plan to get back to this threshold?
(2) We have students who are coming in Monday - Thursday's and not on the A-day and B-day schedules. What can we do to mitigate COVID-19? Students are 100% Virtual on Friday's. Why can't the staff be virtual as well on Friday's? Why is it necessary for teachers and staff to come into the building on Friday's if students are learning virtually?
Hollee Torrence, Parent and Teacher
At what point do we go 100% virtual? With the cases rising so rapidly in Georgia how can we make sure that safety is not compromised with the escalation of COVID-19?
Highlights
I want to commend the faculty and staff o their flexibility during the COVID-19 positive case.
Data Chats - One of the things we do with all our SLAM schools in the network is have the Principals present their data to the SLAM Network. On February 17 - 19, 2021 we will have a Principals Summit. This year because of COVID 19 the meeting will take place virtually via Zoom. I am looking forward to this time together sharing amongst all of our network schools. Within the next e-years SLAM will have 6-different Elementary Schools and we are looking forward to SLAM Atlanta sharing best practices and experiences with all these other schools.
There was a motion to amend the Agenda to add a vote to confirm Mr. Henry Burkes as the newest Board Member of SLAM Atlanta and to change the return date for students to January 25, 2021.
The meeting adjourned at approximately 6:16 pm
