Katrina Hudson, Chair of the Academic Committee, updated the Board on the discussion from the Academic Committee Meeting on February 13, 2020. The Board discussed credit recovery, TAP training, principal reports, and IREAD scores.
Motion to Elect Officers put forth by Katrina Hudson, second by Lisa Edwards. After discussion, it was determined that the schools' bylaws set election of officers at the schools' first meeting of each fiscal year, and election was not permissible under the bylaws at this time. Motion was withdrawn.
Kelli Marshall, GEO's Chief Academic Officer, presented the Academic report on behalf of 21st Century. The Board discussed the High School curriculum, electives, Physical Education and athletics credits, and summer reading programs.
Joe Arredondo, Principal of Gary Middle College East/West, gave the report on behalf of GMC East and West, noting concerns with the shift to online learning and coordination with IvyTech classes during the COVID closures.
