Welcome and Call to Order

The meeting was called to order at 10:05 by Roberta Walker.

Principals/HOS Report

Human Resources - Mr. Brown - Shanice White will be recommended for the middle school counseling position. Salary and benefits total $93,000.07

Vacant positions are: 2 special education teachers ( substitute teachers have been secured) and elementary principal.

Budget - Title II budget has been exhausted with Super Saturday for teachers scheduled for August 16, 2025.

Innovation Team - there is no written response to the meeting held in June.

Special Education - Dr. Solomon - 2 LTSEs, a speech therapist have been assigned to serve DPA. DCSD will also be assigning a speech paraprofessional to work with DPA. Dr. Solomon has worked with them to schedule IEP meetings. 43 students are currently being served and 21 speech only students. Dr. Solomon and Dr. Merritt will implement a process to monitor the Progress Monitoring procedures.

MTSS - Ms. West - 63 students are in Tier I and Tier II MTSS process. 5 students are moving on to PEC evaluation.

Other Academic Concerns

2025-2026 Academic Excellence Committee Goals

 

  1. Establish and communicate a vision for Academic Excellence: Ensuring the entire board and the school leadership share a unified vision. Develop a road map to achieve that vision.
  2. Monitoring and Overseeing Academic Performance: Measuring academic results against the goals outlined in our charter and fostering a culture of academic excellence. Track various metrics, including performance on standardized tests as well as in house assessments.
  3. Promote Professional Development: Ensure that teachers and staff have access to ongoing professional development opportunities that align with the school's mission and goals. This includes workshops, training sessions, and collaborative learning communities to enhance instructional practices and student outcomes.


DPA accreditation process has begun. Dr. Bostic presented a Cognia course which must be completed by all staff who will be involved.

We are awaiting the final approval of the CSIP

Chief Academic Officer Report

DATA Dashboard - GMAS data was presented by grade level. Data has been used to address deficient areas of teaching and learning. The academic data will be presented to the board.

Academic Coaches - Vincent Richard and Guyton - MAP testing has been interrupted because of internet issues. Schedule has been adjusted to get all students tested. IReady diagnostics are ongoing. Amira will be used to test reading fluency. Training is upcoming

Academic Resources - processes for ordering materials was discussed by Dr. Bostic. Resources needed for academic instruction are ordered
