Human Resources Update - Merritt, Brown, Owens
Interviews for next school year have begun. The positions needed are : kindergarten, 4th, 3rd, 7th math, 6th ELA, coaches, counselor and SRO.
Testing Update - Guyton, Johnson, Brown, Owens
During GMAS the first day had challenges. Since one side of the building had sufficient connectivity the decision was made to go to a split schedule. Elementary tested in the morning and middle school in the afternoon. GMAS Testing of all students is complete.
Enrollment - Brown, Owens
491 students. Data is being tracked in infinite campus to capture the reasons for students withdrawing from DPA. The predominate reason being moving out of the area and parents cannot transport.
For 2025-2026 the enrollment is 583. There are 54 on the waiting list. Presently all grade levels are filled.
Special Education - Solomon
All IEPs are up-to-date. 2 meeting need to be done because the review meetings were conducted before October 31, 2024. There are 42 students being served.
The online speech teacher has been secured for the remainder of 24-25. We will wait for DeKalb to put out the summer schedule for compensatory service as we should receive that at no additional cost to the school.
MTSS - West
69 students are in the MTSS process. 10 students are moving on to the PEC referral, consent letters have been sent to parents. Progress monitoring has improved throughout the year.
Summer School Program Review - Owens, Brown
Summer Bridge books have been ordered for all students. A board action will be presented with the total cost.
A mini kinder-camp will be held June 5-6, 8:00 am. - 12 noon. Breakfast and lunch will be served. Kindergarten teachers and paras will conduct the sessions. Board action will be presented.
Data will be collected on the effectiveness of each of these programs.
Noted for 2026 to present Summer School plans to the committee during the March meeting.
Professional Learning Updates Johnson
Summer trainings for teachers - Teachers will continue training on the new ELA standards. A plan for the start of next school year is being put together that will include PLC agenda, communication and instructional strategies..
