Welcome and Call to Order

The meeting was called to order by Roberta Walker at 10:05 a.m.

Coaches Corner

ELA - AR kick off was done with Pancakes and Pajamas activity. Fun for the students and teachers to get into the act. Saturday School and After school tutorial is going well.

Math- BETA Club induction is November 18, at 9:00 a.m.

Gifted - CoGAT testing is near completion; students are engaged in novel study and mental math activities

Data Dashboard - MAP data will be presented. We will show comparison of where students ended in the Spring 22 to Fall testing Fall 22

Professional Learning - MTSS process; Balanced Math, Guided Reading and Co-teaching

HOS and Principal's Report

Personnel - The following candidates were approved by the academic committee for hire: Sonya Carter 7th ELA; Lance Hancock 7&8 social studies; Wydedra Jones 4th; Michelle Martin Counselor; Larry Ford 7th; Cathy McNair EIP part time; Zina Saulter substitute teacher.

Core Subjects - discussed MAP data for fall 22 which will be shared with the board. Attendance incentive program has begun for staff and students. Middle school students will have "college day" bi- weekly.

PBL/AVC - the grade level PBL units and AVC were discussed.

Special Education

Media Center - the contracted para has the media center open for staff and students, offices and classroom space has been created, the behind the glass project for Reading Recovery is near completion.

Other Academic Concerns - Employee of the month is Coach Newell. Field trips upcoming are Lego Land and Fernbank.

Lap Top computers and Smart boards need to be approved in order for us to have the computers necessary for students during testing in the spring.

Leadership Mentor for Mrs. Smith has been selected. The cost will be $9,000 for 10 + weeks mentorship.
